A rich history

Welcome to Bexhill Bowling Club, where tradition meets community spirit since 1907. With a diverse membership of around seventy, we're proud to offer something for everyone.

Bexhill Bowling Club has a rich history, beginning when local bowlers first played on the town’s only green at Egerton Park. As the sport’s popularity grew, a new green was laid to accommodate more players, marking the start of an exciting new chapter for the club.

With more interest in the game, the club became officially affiliated with the Sussex County Bowling Association, establishing its own rules and traditions. Over time, the condition of the green became a concern, and discussions began about finding a new home. Though plans for a private club never materialized, strong ties with the local council helped shape the club’s future.

As membership flourished, so did recognition of the sport’s value to the town. This led to the creation of new greens at Polegrove Recreation Park, which soon became the club’s home. It was here that the idea of hosting a Bowls Tournament first took shape—a tradition that, despite a few pauses over the years, remains a cherished event in partnership with other local clubs.
