Competitions
Welcome to our Bexhill Bowling Club Competitions! We encourage all members to take part—whether you're new to the game or a seasoned player, there's something for everyone. To keep things running smoothly, please take a moment to read through our competition guidelines.
Arranging & playing matches
-
The challenger (first name in the tie) has the choice of rink and must offer their opponent at least three dates (one of which must be a weekend) within 48 hours of the previous round closing.
The opponent must confirm a date within 24 hours of receiving the challenge.
If no challenge is made in time, the opponent becomes the challenger and takes on the responsibility of scheduling the match.
-
Matches should be played as early as possible—don’t leave them to the last minute, as rinks may be fully booked.
Matches can be scheduled anytime after 6:00 PM (Monday–Friday), after 10:00 AM (weekends), and no later than 6:30 PM on any day.
-
The challenger must provide a marker who is a club member with a good knowledge of the game.
-
If a player fails to arrive within 30 minutes of the agreed time, they forfeit the match.
If a game is tied at the final end, extra end(s) will be played, with possession of the jack decided by a coin toss.
If a game is interrupted, it will resume from the last completed end, unless one team concedes
-
The winner must enter the result on the Competitions Sheet and place a completed scorecard in the box by the round completion date.
If a match is conceded or decided by a coin toss, this must be noted on the scorecard.
If no scorecard is submitted by the deadline, both players/teams will be eliminated.
-
Club shirts with navy bottoms.
Markers are expected to dress appropriately.

Substitutes & Trophies
Substitutes
If a player in a Pairs, Triples, or Rinks competition falls ill, a substitute may be allowed with approval from the Competition Secretary.
The substitute must not already be competing in that event, should be of similar ability, and must have a handicap no higher than the original player.
If the original player recovers, they may return for future rounds.
Trophies
All winners and runners-up will receive a prestigious club trophy, with a presentation and photo session on Finals Weekend.
Trophies remain club property and must be kept safe until the following year's Finals Weekend. The club covers engraving costs through our appointed engraver.

Our Competition Secretaries, under the guidance of the Executive Committee, arrange and oversee all club competitions.
-
Entering a Competition
To enter, you must have paid your annual membership fee (due by April 18th) and have proof of your rink fee payment (either a season or session ticket).
-
Eligibility
Members who are competing in club competitions at another affiliated club are not eligible to enter Bexhill Bowling Club competitions.

We offer a variety of competitions suited to all skill levels. Competitions will only take place if there are enough participants to complete at least one round before the final.
